Saturday Video Fun: Matraca Berg - You and Tequila (2011)

We were glad to see Kenny Chesney and Grace Potter get two Grammy nominations for "You and Tequila", best country song, and best performance by a country duo or group. We featured their video a few Saturdays back.

Matraca Berg is the kind of songwriter who is best known for the hits that other artists have had with her songs, but no one does her stuff any better than she does. This year, Matraca released her own version of "You and Tequila" on her latest album, The Dreaming Fields, her fifth. We were delighted to find that she had also made a video for "You and Tequila".

Deana Carter co-wrote "You and Tequila" and recorded her own version back in 2004. Interestingly, Matraca got her first big break as a songwriter in 1997 when Deana had a major hit with Matraca's "Stawberry Wine", which went on to win song of the year from the CMA. Here is the video.

We can't stop now, for an extra bonus video this week, we found a nice live version of "Strawberry Wine" by Matraca.

A long time a go you gave me a copy of Matraca Berg's first CD, Lying to the Moon which I still play and is on my ipod. The opening song, "Things You Left Undone," is outstanding. Thank you for showing us there is a whole lot more where that came from.
