Saturday Video: Swing Out Sister Christmas, Five Gold Rings (2012), Tracey Thorn, The Making of Tinsel and Lights (Full Version, 2012)

Swing Out Sister have done nine (studio) albums over the course of a twenty-five year career. They are beloved by fans on three continents and have countless collection, remix and live albums, this year they finally released a live DVD, but in all that time they have never done a Christmas record. Till now. They posted this, a few days ago on their Facebook page.

Hey, we made a Christmas song.. and finished it in time. Which, as far as we're concerned, constitutes something of a Christmas miracle! A very merry Christmas to one and all..

This video features the voices of Corinne Drewery and Jody Linscott; Andy Connell did the music.

My posting of this clip on Christmas Eve has become something of a Yuletide tradition, dating all the way back to 2011.

A very hqppy hoohah to all..

Tracey Thorn - Tinsel and Lights (2012)

The best new Christmas album in quite a few years is Tracey Thorn's Tinsel and Lights, just released this year. They haven't done any videos yet, only a couple of Youtube audio tracks, but they did release this excellent making-of feature.

Tracey Thorn - Tinsel and Lights

Bonus Video: This week's bonus video comes from blog contributor Sara Clancy who found this beautiful Tracey Thorn video of a seasonal tune that predates Tinsel and Lights by two years, "As a thank you for all the love and attention paid to her album this year (2010), 'Love And Its Opposite', Tracey Thorn shins down the chimney to deliver a FREE downloadable Christmas track to warm your winter fireside. It's a cover of Sufjan Stevens' 'Sister Winter'."
