The Mother Truckers - SXSW, Maria's Taco Express, 3/14/08

Maria's Taco Express is about a three mile bus ride south of downtown Austin, definitely off the radar for most of the SXSW crowd (even more so by not being on the official SXSW schedule), and yet the performance patio was completely packed for local favorites The Mother Truckers' late afternoon set.

The Mother Truckers write and play quality Texas style rock & roll, led by the incredible guitar work of Josh Zee and the compelling lead vocals of Teal Collins; the pair also write the band's original material. The rest of the band were excellent as well. This was a set of music that was well worth the effort it took to get to, plus the bus route passed by a pool hall called "Slick Willie's".
